More on Jared Enderton

LOGO-350x326Jared Enderton, a native of Graettinger, Iowa is a nationally ranked weightlifter in the United States. He has spent the last 2 years training in San Francisco, CA and Las Vegas, NV. Jared is now at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado training with hopes to qualify for the 2016 Olympics.
Crossfit Affiliate if one: Right now I train at the Olympic Training Center, but, I coach at Crossfit Pandora’s Box, Crossfit Pikes Peak, & Crossfit 719 in Colorado Springs. My first ever crossfit coaching gig was at Crossfit Kilo in Cedar Falls!
How’d you get invited to try to earn Olympic Spot? It’s really all dependent on your current national ranking. I am just coming back from hip surgery so have a long way to go to make the climb back to a nationally (and hopefully internationally) competitive level!
Favorite song to workout to: Love classic rock. Freebird, Stairway to heaven, Simple manMost recent PR: 157kg (345lb) snatchWhat inspired you to pursue Olympic Lifting as a career? I really just enjoyed lifting. I came from strongman (Weighed 300+lbs), and decided to lose some weight. As I lost weight I felt athletic again and picked up the sport!Education Background? B.A. in Exercise Science from the University of Northern Iowa. Somehow I graduated with honors even haha!

What has been your best coaching experience so far? Seminars! I LOVE doing seminars. Seriously. Meeting new people, coaching what I love, and traveling the world. I’m the most grateful guy in the world for my job.

If you could give someone new to CrossFit just one piece of advice, what would it be? “If you chase 2 rabbits, both will escape.” Too many people try chasing too many things at once. Yes, you have to be varied in your training. BUT, if you’re on a smolov squat program + a crazy lifting program + WODs + 6 other things you’ll wind up getting nothing. A little patience goes a long way!

Would you share with us your favorite tip or cue that we might find useful to use in our training? PATIENCE. Both in your programming of your training & also literally during the lift.

Do you have any success stories among your athletes you’ve trained in the past that you’d like to share? My favorite moment of all time was from a seminar I did about a month ago. I had a girl who was stuck snatching 95lbs for 11 months! 11! She comes to the seminar and snatches 100 like it was an absolute broomstick. She then just literally breaks down into tears & hugs me. It was one of the most satisfying feelings I can remember having.

If ‘Enderton’ was a WOD, what would it consist of? Ha! Who’s asking these questions? Because they’re epic! #1 – I think making “Enderton” a WOD should probably happen, and #2 – It would probably be: 1RM Bench Press, 1RM Snatch, 1RM Split Jerk. Ha! Perfect.

What’s your biggest goal and what are you doing about it? Right now it is to get my hip healthy again. I Had hip surgery at the end of July, so really just trying to come back from that. I have some pretty lofty goals for the future, but, #1 is getting healthy. I’ve been rehabbing, biking, swimming, yoga, mobilityWOD stuff, every single day. I think within a month I will have no restrictions on my training and I will be good to go!

What is something folks may not know about you? I LOVE golfing. I can make it rain out there, ha! Reminds me a lot of weightlifting in a way.Be sure to check out my website, with a NEWLY launched site coming October 3rd. – JaredEnderton.com
