Programming News: Olympic Lifting Focus

Olympic lifts are one of the most complex movements within the CrossFit realm thus requiring a strong focus on form. The 151 staff is focused on teaching correct form, providing beneficial queues, and overall skills in order to perfect these movements with proper form to prevent injury.

In early October we brought Jared Enderton to 151 to host an Oly Lifting clinic. Jared was spotlighted in our October Newsletter as he is currently training in Colorado Springs with aspirations of making the 2016 US Olympic Weightlifting team. Not only did coaches attend but a few members as well. Jared provided important queues and insights to remember when performing Olympic lifts. He also shared other movements to train to get stronger at the core Oly movements; the Snatch & Clean & Jerk.

In addition to the Enderton training, 5 coaches attended the CrossFit Oly Lifting Seminar in Dubuque in late October. This clinic focused on the coaching of these two movements rather than the training Jared provided to perfect one’s own technique. The CF Lifting seminar broke down each movement, how to work on each segment of the lift, and combine them back together to perfect the lift. Led by Fred Lowe, the coaches learned a lot over the 2 day training and you may have already noticed some of the trainers using these coaching queues learned from the seminar to help you and other 151 members.
